Ceramic Factory studio with several large artworks in production

Normandy · form · gesture · fire

The hand & the material.

A studio working at scale

The balance of a volume is built millimetre by millimetre.

CERAMIC FACTORY artworks are shaped by hand by Baptiste Macé, a master potter with over thirty years of experience. Large-scale work requires a constant reading of form, weight, moisture and drying.

Every piece retains the marks of its making. They are not erased in pursuit of uniformity: they constitute its signature.

Hand-shaping gesture on clay

RAOULT FILS · material laboratory · since 1889

Creating the clay before creating the form.

The ceramic bodies used by CERAMIC FACTORY are formulated, prepared and matured within RAOULT FILS. Each composition is developed for a specific strength, texture, colour and behaviour in the kiln.

This autonomy makes it possible to go beyond the catalogue: a body can be adapted to the scale of the artwork, the climate or the desired surface effect.

Form, gesture & fire

Three stages, one artwork.
